UPDATE!
Amazon.com has changed the release date of DNF to February 1, the same date that gamestop.com lists. Suspicious in the latest events. I guess we can expect DNF to be released on that date or sometime around it. You can quote me on this, DNF release sometime between mid of January until March.

Duke continues to come up with 'Duke definitions'

Still not a fan of Duke on Facebook? Do it now and spread the word or he will kick your ass!
So you remember the cool and funny Duke definitions? Duke came up with a new one.

Duke definition: Blockbuster -- A new street cleaning weapon that sounds friggin fun. But if I don't return it after 2 days, it'll stop working. Don't get some.

'Monday Monday' and 'Invaders Must Die' featured in the DNF trailer

I read some days ago as far as I remember on Duke4.net the comments of a PAX attendee who recalled his experience and he mentioned that the hippie hymne 'monday monday' from the Mamas and Papas will be one of the songs featured in the trailer. Another song is 'invaders must die' by The Prodigy.
To get some feeling how the music in the new trailer goes. Listen here:

The best video-interview so far

Randy Pitchford was interviewed by Giant Bombs's Jeff Gerstmann. Gerstmann does great interviews in general and this one is probably one of his best and funniest, thanks to Randy and Duke!

Future thoughts

as far as the trailer goes, we’re gonna have to figure that out, because as far as putting trailer and stuff out there goes, it’s like we’re making promises; we want to walk the walk, not talk the talk.

We’ll see how this goes, and once we get over the shock and awe, then we can reassess and figure out that strategy. But we know a key part is that people need to believe it for themselves before it comes.
http://dukewatch.blogspot.com/2010/09/exciting-pitchford-interview.html

What I expect to happen:

It expect that we won't get the trailer a soon as we hoped. My guess is that Gearbox wants to get the release date straight first! And I imagine the process of finding the release date can take up to several weeks.

So this is how the future can look like:
-first DNF previews in the next magazine issues in end of September/early October
-the trailer with the release date at the end of it in early October
-DNF demo in November/December
-the game in January-March

exciting Pitchford interview

VG247.com had a meaty interview with Randy Pitchford (CEO of Gearbox) about the Duke.

facts:
Randy P.: We have it to the polishing stage, where we have it running on all the platforms and where we know it’s ready to ship.

when as asked about a downloadable demo...
Randy P.: I think that is an important thing to do, and while I don’t have a date for that…
But one of the things about being able to keep it secret – well, my understanding is that 2K just told their retailers about the game for the first time this morning.

Markus Wilding, 2K PR boss: Yes, it’s true.

Randy P.:  There’s a reason for this is: if it had happened earlier, the expectation of promises could have come up and this is a game you don’t make promises about.
Now that the cat’s out of the bag we can actually make those plans. No we can get with retailers and figure out the launch window, and figure out demo timing, and work with the first-parties on that. We weren’t able to do that until this point, because if we did we risked damaging it even further.

BREAKING NEWS: Gearbox bought the Duke IP

Just two days after revealing its stewardship of the Duke Nukem Forever title at PAX, Gearbox Software just revealed that it has actually purchased the Duke Nukem brand. Gearbox president Randy Pitchford told an audience at PAX this afternoon that they're not just making sure Duke Nukem Forever makes it to store shelves, but they've actually purchased the entire Duke Nukem IP. "We actually bought the brand," Pitchford told fans. "We bought Duke Nukem."

A press release timed to go out with the announcement has some more information. Here's the big picture quote: "Gearbox Software announced today that it has acquired the full intellectual property rights of the 'Duke Nukem' brand including Duke Nukem Forever and all future projects in a cooperative deal made with 3D Realms." Even more interesting: "The first product to be available under the Duke Nukem brand will be the long awaited Duke Nukem Forever." Naturally, if they're buying the brand you can imagine DNF won't be the last game to feature the Duke.

Pitchford made a point to say that Alan Blum, the creator of the Duke Nukem franchise, is now with Gearbox. "He's on the 10th floor with his team," he said. He also wanted to explain that this franchise couldn't simply have been purchased by anyone. "I didn't buy it from [3D Realms]," Pitchford said. "They sold it to me." In the press release, 3D Realms' Scott Miller said, "Gearbox was handpicked as the new home for Duke Nukem because of their continued passion, commitment and long-time heritage with the brand and 3D Realms."

"we get the launch date soon"

In this interview (about 5:30) Randy Pitchford confirmed that they "get the launch date soon" (yesterday 2K was talking  to the retailers about DNF)

DNF media so far

Because there is so much media surrounding DNF, I will just post the links to the gathered media places.

Also you will find various off-screen videos at youtube. Just search for Duke Nukem Forever at PAX or something like that.

Regarding the upcoming Gearbox PAX Panel, I will post the latest info here.
Stay tuned!

Regarding the DNF trailer! As Randy said it wasn't allowed to film the trailer. One of 2 reasons  probably is that it wasn't rated by the ESRB yet. The other one being the low quality leak of course!
So this mean we probably will get the DNF trailer on monday the earliest, due to ESRB being closed at weekends. Hopefully it doesn't take that long to give the trailer a 'Rating Pending' status!

DNF finally re-announced at PAX

 Press Release:

Hail to the King! 2K Games Announces Duke Nukem Forever® - Seriously Flying Pigs Spotted Heading Towards Penny Arcade Expo

Legendary video game hero to finally return and kick-ass on consoles and Windows PC in 2011; playable demo at Penny Arcade Expo

New York, NY - September 3, 2010 - 2K Games and Gearbox Software announced today that forever is nearly here, as Duke Nukem Forever® will officially make its long-awaited debut for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system and Windows PC in calendar 2011. Duke Nukem, the interactive entertainment industry's most irreverent and quoted character of all time, will bring his signature brand of babe-lovin', cigar-smoking, beer-chugging and ass-kicking action as he once again saves the Earth and our babes from hordes of invading aliens. In other shocking news, Duke Nukem Forever will be playable right now for all attendees 17 and older of this year's Penny Arcade Expo at the 2K Booth (booth #3417), giving the first hands-on experience with the game that was originally announced during the tail end of the Clinton Administration.

"All great things take time... a lot of time," laughs Christoph Hartmann, president of 2K. "After a hiatus from the video game world, Duke Nukem is back and better than ever. The return of the King from the glory days of shooters will satisfy our patient, die-hard fans, as well as a new generation of bubble gum-chewing, flat top and shades-wearing bad-asses. Make no mistake about it - Duke Nukem Forever is a testament to the era of when shooters were bodacious and fun."

Put on your sunglasses and prepare to step into the boots of Duke Nukem, whose legend has reached epic proportions in the years since his last adventure. The alien hordes are back and only Duke can save the world, again. Pig cops, alien shrink rays and enormous alien bosses won't stop our hero from accomplishing his one and only goal: to save the world, save the babes and to be a bad-ass while doing it. The King of All Shooters is back with over-the-top weapons, massive aliens and unprecedented levels of interactivity. This game puts pedal to the metal and tongue firmly in cheek, among other places. Shoot hoops, lift weights, read adult magazines, draw crude messages on whiteboards or ogle one of the many beautiful women that populate Duke's life; that is if you can pull yourself away long enough from kicking ass and taking names. Duke Nukem was and will forever be immortalized in gaming history, and this is his legend.

"Hail to the king, baby! It's unbelievable, it kicks ass and it's totally going to happen!" said Randy Pitchford, president of Gearbox Software, "Gearbox has enabled die-hard key Duke Nukem franchise builders and skilled veteran game makers to stand together and deliver. All gamers deserve a happy ending and after all of us gamers feeling the full range of emotions about Duke Nukem Forever, I am thrilled to be in a position with the trust, power and means to make it happen. Am I crazy? Balls of steel, baby, balls of steel!"

Duke Nukem Forever is currently in development for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 system and Windows PC and is not yet rated by the ESRB. 2K Games has the exclusive, long-term publishing rights to the game. To catch your first glimpse of the Duke Nukem Forever experience please visit www.dukenukem.com.

2K Games is a division of 2K, a publishing label of Take-Two Interactive Software, Inc. (NASDAQ: TTWO).

Industry sources confirm "grand demo" of DNF@PAX

CVG's industry  sources confirm that DNF will be revealed at PAX

US dev sources have indicated to CVG that the game will get a "grand demo" at the show - and will be built upon what 3D Realms has already created, rather than a completely fresh project. We're hopeful it will be playable.

Shacknews employee kinda confirms DNF developed by Gearbox!

Xav de Matos working for Shacknews kinda confirmed that DNF is indeed developed by Gearbox right now!
He teased us with this question over at formspring :
what do you think of Duke Nukem...will Duke Nukem Forever come out any time soon?
Some hours later he answered his own question:
Hold up, let me call Randy Pitchford real quick...

Consider that Randy P. and Mikey Neumann both are on a advertising tour for their upcoming Borderlands DLC, but also for a surprise as Randy has indicated via twitter :
Heading to LA and SF before PAX to talk to people about the new Borderlands DLC - and a surprise! /me excited
So it's likely that de Matos knows about the rumor and about it's truth. Why should he tease us with something like that 4 days before the Gearbox Panel at PAX?! ;)

Prepare for a bombshell! :)
